Melbourne Design Week
03/2022

SAY IT LOUD Naarm Melbourne 2022 exhibition at Melbourne Design Week was the first iteration of the series in Oceania. The Naarm exhibit was designed in a format that responded to the nuances of the Australian context. The exhibition design, curation and organisation was led by a team of African-Australian creatives, a process that engaged mediums beyond the wall, including video and objects.

The work of 111 BIPOC and women built environment professionals was exhibited, including Indigenous led or focused projects, academic PhD research, community based projects, residential - commercial - hotel developments, civic and urban scale projects as well as furniture and object design. Advocacy in the form of talks led by Indigenous practitioners and mentorship programs were at the forefront of creating an exhibit that celebrated the diversity of contributors to the Australian built environment.
